High sugar diet: No studies to suggest use of concentrated sugars predisposes to diabetes in absence of weight gain good lifestyle is never too late.

Maybe (not) . . .: The good news is that you're only 17yo. Even better is that you're not overweight and you've stopped eating a high sugar diet. While we don't have irrefutable evidence, chances are that no permanent damage has been done leading to issues later on. Best way to stay healthy is to eat right & exercise regularly. Mediterranean diet has good evidence. Strength, balance, flexibility & aerobics are key.
