My husband's mom had alzheimer's he is 72 & is starting to make up stories that aren't true, should i be concerned about early onset alzheimer's?

Maybe: There are several conditions that can result in telling stories (unintentional lying). The best way to know for sure is to have him evaluated by a physician (primary, psychiatry, neurology, or geriatrics). There are tests that can narrow down the possibilities.

Dementia: This would not be early onset. He is 72 years old. There are a number or kinds of dementia that occur in the elderly population. A neurologist can figure out which kind he has, but i would be prepared to learn that he may have a permanent form of dementia.
