Depends: It depends on the type of cancer your relatives had. Colon cancer, breast cancer and ovarian cancer can run in families. Usually you want to start screening when at the same age as your primary relative had cancer. This is especially true for some kinds of colon and breast cancers.

Depends : That would depend on the specific type of cancer. Some would certainly increase your risk - others would not.
