Open ended question: Your surgeon was most likely doing her job by asking this question. It's considered part of the medical interview or interval history. Information obtained from these types of questions often seem irrelevant from the perspective of the patient, but can provide invaluable medically relevant information to your doctor. Not sure.: Sounds like he was changing the subject because he didn't have an answer for you on your pain question. You should find you way to a good pain management physician. We frequently see post-surgical patients with pain and can help them in the majority of cases.
