Seperated my shoulder yesterday. er sent me home with a referral to a surgeon and painkillers. arm is in a sling. lots of pain. will the pain go away over time or will it remain until surgery/treatment? thank you?

By Mayor Clinic: In most people, a separated shoulder doesn't usually require surgery. Instead, conservative treatment — such as rest, ice and pain relievers — is often enough to relieve the pain. Most people regain full shoulder function within a few weeks after having a separated shoulder.
