For most, but: Not all patients, the adverse effects of metformin tend to resolve in 2 weeks or so if you continue at low dose (500 mg once or twice daily w/meals) and then slowly increase 500 mg total per week. If this doesn't work, the time release Glumetza is often better tolerated, but more expensive since it's not generic.
