Stay on R: It makes more sense to be on R, as it is better for u'r sugar spikes with meals. Should take 30 min prior to u'r meals, or largest meal. N formula is a long acting Insulin and won't cover the post meal sugar spikes as well. Metformin helps with keeping baseline blood sugars down overall which, in a way, is the purpose of Novolin (insulin) N, so u'r combo of Metformin and R makes more sense.
