Yes: For adults that are "tongue tied" a simple surgical clipping of the frenum can be done to allow the tongue to protrude.

Lingual Frenectomy: Or frenuloplasty can be performed at ay age, although when there is an excessively thick or anteriorly positioned attachment, this is usually dealt with in childhood. I do occasionally have adult patients who seek treatment for various reasons.

Frenectomy: It is possible to get your tongue clipped-- a frenulectomy---at any age. A soft tissue laser can fix the lack of mobility very quickly when used properly. Visit your dentist for a referral if you want to have it done.
