A member asked:

Can you develop cervical cancer within a short amount of time, like a couple of years?

Cervix CA incubation: Cervical cancer is usually caused by human papilloma virus (hpv-16) infection. It has been estimated that the median time from first detection of hpv infection to the finding of carcinoma-in-situ of the cervix (earliest form of cancer) is about 7-12 years, perhaps earlier for the development of genital warts. It is unlikely that cervical cancer develops within 2 years from first exposure to hpv.

May be: You do not say within couple of years of what episode. Severe dysplasia or carcinoma-in-situ may become invasive cancer within a couple of years from initial detection, if left untreated.
