Cause of Cervical ca: Most cervical cancer is caused by a virus known as human papilloma virus(hpv). There are many types of hpv, not all of them cause cervical cancer. Hpv is sexually transmitted (by having sexual contact with someone who has it). You can have hpv for years without it causing symptoms, cancer can occur many years after infection. Thus it's important to undergo regular pap screening test.

Cervix cancer: Is not heriditary. It is transmitted by sexual encounters, and linked to the hpv virus.
