Maybe: Leukocytes (white blood cells) are found in urine when there is any source of irritation (uti, stones, tumors...). Nitrites in urine are generally due to bacteria that make nitrites, but not all bacteria do so. The only way to be sure you have a UTI (and know how best to treat it) is to have the urine cultured, which means it is grown in a lab for 48-72hrs, then tested with several antibiotics.

Maybe: People with an active UTI will have negative nitrites about 30% of the time. The definitive answer is only known with the urine culture results, which take 48-72 hours to be reported.
