What can i use to make my child's asthma mucus go away?

Mucolytics, hydration: Mucolytics like robatussin or Mucinex (guaifenesin) are helpful to a limited degree.Keeping well hydrated is also important. Avoiding products with drying antihistamines (most cough meds) is also important. There is a new self administered mist generating device that looks promising but I have not used it yet.
