There is a reason: There is always a reason for pain. Pain in the feet can be caused by trauma, improperly sized shoes, arthritis, tendonitis , swelling and other things.

They don't: Bones on top of foot do not hurt for no reason. There has to be a reason. There could be the beginning of a stress fracture. It could be from tendonitis. It could be overuse of some other type or could be from an injury such as dropping something on foot but not remembering that you did so. If last over 2 or 3 days, see a podiatrist.
