Maybe: Heel pain is a very common problem and quite debilitating. Most conservative care consists of: icing, antiinflammatories, stretching, good shoes and support, limited weightbearing activity and cortisone injections. Custom orthotics are helpful. If conservative care is not successful then surgery may be necessary. We like to try ecswt (shockwave therapy) before surgery. Google it. Dr l.

Possible: Depends on the location of the heel pain. Plantar fasciitis(bottom of the heel) will, the majority of the time, respond to conservative care. Back of the heel pain with minimal or no bone spurring, it will also respond to conservative care. If your pf has not responded to conservative care or you have back of the heel spurring with chronic pain, then surgical intervention may be d. Dr l.

Depends on the cause: Heel pain is most often caused by plantar fasciitis, a condition that is sometimes also called heel spur syndrome when a spur is present. Heel pain may also be due to other causes, such as infection, tendonitis, arthritis, stress fracture, nerve irritation, retained foreign body, bone tumor, or a cyst. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.
