Not Neccasarily: Pus is basically when the fighting white blood cells surround a foreign invader in your system. It may be bacteria but it also can be a foreign body, or dead tissue. Inflammation (red, hot, swelling, pain) is actually a beneficial thing that help prevent and fight infection. Unless it is worsening and you have fevers, chills, and other concerns, close observation is not necessarily wrong.
