Jury's out: Cane sugar is sucrose, which is made of glucose and fructose. Corn syrup is mainly fructose. The big problem is probably not from the molecule itself but from how it's added to everything because it is cheap. Processed food has so much added sweetener to make up for lack of flavor that we're addicted to it.
