A member asked:

How can i be allergic to yellow corn and still be able to eat white corn and not get sick?

Probably...: ...Because you're not truly allergic to corn; you have an *intolerance* to certain types of corn, and not others. People with true allergy to corn typically must avoid all corn and corn derivatives. So if white corn causes no problems for you, that's great! stick with that, and avoid only the varieties that cause problems for you.

Probably not: When people r allergic to foods, most of the time they r allergic to the proteins in the foods. Yellow corn and white corn r biologically very close, and share probably most of the proteins. As allergists, we usually think if u r allergic to corn, u r allergic to both types.
