Varies by surgeon: Some plastic surgeons have made liposuction an integral part of their abdominoplasties, while others do none at all. Speak with your surgeon ahead of time so that realistic expectations are present before surgery.

Truly variable: I do it with almost all tummy tucks (witch hazel) as part of the procedure. I know many docs who "charge it" as a separate procedure......Ask.

Skin laxity vs fat?: Liposuction is a great technique for reducing localized fat deposits in an individual with elastic skin. In areas of skin laxity, the skin may become excessively loose following liposuction. The amount of lipo on the flanks at the time of tummy tuck depends on the degree of skin laxity in the area versus the amount of localized fat that can be removed.

Usually,: The average amount fat suctioned is close to a liter, in total. Naturally, this varies with the patient's overall size.
