ESR: Esr will always spike with inflammation as it is a type of inflammatory marker. The more widespread or severe the inflammation, often the higher the esr.

Question unclear: Esr is a non-specific marker of inflammation and will rise in some inflammatory forms of arthritis like ankylosing spondylitis. Is that what you are asking?
