ALLERGY MED.: Zyrtec is less-sedating long acting allergy med. Used for those who have allergy and suffers for longer time. (for acute allergy usually short acting ones like benadryl, (diphenhydramine) Hydroxyzine etc. Are used). During allergy season, it can be given for longer time 3-4 months. Side effect: headache, dry mouth, pharyngitis, GI symptoms, some sedation. Better to stop after symptom control and restart if needed.
