Is it safe to take zyrtec or claritin (loratadine) while pregnant? i'm 37 years old, 6 weeks pregnant and have seasonal allergies.

There : There is no known risk to taking zyrtec or Claritin (loratadine) in pregnancy. We generally advise to try not to take medications in the first trimester unless you really need it. If your allergies are really bad you can go ahead and keep taking it. All the best to you. Congratulations:).

Both : Both zyrtec and Claritin (loratadine) are classified by the fda (the U.S. Food and drug administration) as pregnancy category b drugs, meaning there is no known risk to pregnant women or their babies. So there is no evidence that either one is harmful. Let your OB doctor know all the drugs and supplements you are taking. Best wishes with your pregnancy and congratulations!
