Poor blink reflex: Following bell's palsy, there is usually excessive dryness due to exposure and an incomplete blink. Poor closure?: I agree, but with bell's, it is also possible that the eye isn't even closing all the way. If that is the case, artificial tears may not be enough and surgery might be indicated. Your friend needs to be evaluated by an eye md.
