6-7 weeks: On a transvaginal ultrasound, fetal heart activity can be visualized around 6.5 weeks after the lmp. On a trans-abdominal exam activity will usually be seen between 7-8 weeks depending on patient size and uterine position.

6-7 weeks: A heartbeat is usually detected between 6-7 weeks on the transvaginal sonogram.
