Molar pregnancies: Molar pregnancies are more common in Asian individuals and can be sometimes suspected by a rapid rise in the size of the uterus relative to known LMP gestational age. At 5 weeks of gestation it is very difficult to confirm a partial molar pregnancy as the ultrasound if done will show only early gestational material. A chorionic villus or amniocentesis sampling later in pregnancy will be abnormal.

1:1500: The incidence of a molar pregnancy is about 1 in 1500. If you've previously had a molar pregnancy, its about 1 in 150. In early pregnancy, the symptoms are much the same as a normal pregnancy. Sometimes you can have spotting or more severe nausea and vomiting. U/S at 5 weeks is not always reliable for ruling out molar pregnancy. Best wishes!
