Consultation: A consultation with a local dentist can determine if there are any problems with your teeth. If there are none, then you can see your physician to treat your ear. It is very hard to tell sometimes, so that's why you need to be seen in person and examined.

Numb the tooth: If the tooth is anesthetized and you still have an earache its not your tooth.

Differential diagnose: See a dentist first. If after effective tooth local anesthesia is achieved and earache is ameliorated the cause of the pain is dental. However, you can still have both ear problems and tooth problems at the same time.

Could be: Could be one or the other or both. Have Dentist rule out dental causes with appropriate diagnostic procedures. If not Dental, nextstep is to see Physician, preferably an ENT.
