Try this: I would recommend using lots of warm compresses and then massage the stye. Non prescription lubricant eye drops will give a temporary relief from symptoms, but will not get at the underlying problem. If the compresses are not enough, then see an eye doctor to get extra help.

It won't hurt: It won't hurt, but probably won't help either. The standard medical treatment for sty is warm compresses.
