Thickheaded.: Welcome to taking care of baby boomers. They are not all like that, thank god! unfortunately, too many are. You will have to insist that your patient get a second opinion, and maybe a third or fourth.

Advise for Doctor: I would recommend to her, if she were my patient, that she get a second opinion. This will be a fairly obvious and easy consultation for a colleague to perform and also a known outcome given that they will back you up completely on this question.
