Saline drops : Are very safe to clean the boogers.You may apply some vaseline, a&d ointment or aquaphor ointment after cleaning out the boogers to keep the nostrils moist.

No problem: Normal saline will certainly loosen up mucous in the nose. Because of the lack of humidity, the mucous does get dry a sometimes obstruct the airway.

Saline drops: Yes, that should be fine. Do one nostril at a time, so as not to block the airway.
