See another dentist: If 1st dentist won't help you, go find another one. Of course, this may be trickier in zimbabwe. In the states, patients w/bad teeth often go to er for care, eg antibiotics & pain medication. Then they go see dentist when office opens up next day.

See a specialist: If your dentist is unable to treat your problem, you will need to seek the care of an oral surgeon or an endodontist. This cannot be left unattended.

See below: For acute infections initially your dentist may have you take some antibiotic to control the infection. At that stage they will restore your tooth if it is restorable other wise they may recomend extraction of the tooth.

Be careful: That's a long time to be swollen. I would suggest returning to your dentist. You may need to have the infection drained to relieve the pressure. An infection can get bad quickly. You may need an antibiotic. I often do work on people when they have signs of swelling to hasten the healing process.

See your DDS: Pain and swelling is generally an indication that a problem exists. I am not sure what your dentist is waiting for or if there is more to the situation. I suggest you either seek the opinion of another doctor or return to your current doctor for him to reevaluate your condition. Don't leave it as it is or you may be increasing your chance of a real emergency. Good luck.
