PANDA syndrome: Panda stands for pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder associated with streptococcus, in which your child, after a strep throat, may be having hyperactivity, moodiness and blinking of his eyes. F your child does have strep throat on testing, it should be treated with antibiotics. Experts hypothesise that helping the brain recover with nutrients may reduce vulnerability to further damage.

MDs treating PANDAS: Yes - I have been successful in treating cases of pandas using antibiotics, steroids, supplements and even ivig - but a thorough medical history and exam is essential before any treatment regimen is started to make sure that this is truly pandas. A list of treating mds, by state, can be found at pandasnetwork.Org.
