Swelling: I would suggest discussing with your surgeon. Promptly usually it is just the swelling from your knee "draining" to your foot with gravity and will usually resolve with time and elevation. But it could also be a DVT ("blood clot") which can be dangerous, particularly if a piece breaks off and goes your lungs (pe).

Elevation: Swelling is normal after knee surgery. Gravity causes the swelling to migrate down to the foot. Ice the knee and elevate the leg. If the swelling persists, see your surgeon.

Elevate-chk for clot: Swelling in a foot can be commonly seen after surgery. This can be from unrelated medical causes or generally due to poor circulation, inflammation at the injury site or constriction from a brace or cast. However, sometimes you can get a clot in your leg can cause swelling in the injured or uninjured extremity, go to er to rule out a clot. This can be serious and even fatal.
