Inflamed thyroid: Yes, sound like thyroiditis. There are many causes: autoimmune (your antibodies attack your thyroid gland), viral or bacterial infection, drugs. The course of the disease depends on what causes it. See your doctor for an evaluation (exam, blood test and possibly thyroid ultrasound) to make sure nothing else is going on.
