Severe heartburn for 1st time & unable to lay down. also ankle swelling next day (better with elevation) along with painful swallowing.

Heartburn: Heartburn and difficulty swallowing can be related, take Tums or Gaviscon to relieve symptoms and if they persist you probably should start zantac (ranitidine) or Pepcid then see your doctor. I cannot link your ankle swelling with the above ymptoms. This needs to be evaluated. Did you take nsaids to treat the swelling? These can cause heartburn.

You can try: An over the counter medication. Zantac (ranitidine) is an example. But, i would advise a check up with your internist.
