It is not uncommon: Depending on symptoms, imaging evaluation (ususally MRI and mr cine to show CSF flow) you may be a candidate for neurosurgical decompression.

Chiari malformation: Gait issues and dizziness can be symptoms of a chiari malformation. If you have tonsillar herniation and compression at the skull base due to tonsillar herniation then you could benefit from this surgery to decompress the chiari.
