Not sure : As we don't have your full medical history. However, a neuromodulator like Gabapentin or Pregabalin may help if you have true sciatica (or radiculopathy). I would recommend seeing a pain specialist who would be able to review your case and offer more effective pain options.

Addiction potential.: All meds have side effects. Nerve pill, means sedative or hypnotic group of meds or anti anxiety group of mess. All of these have stronger addicting potential and that is why your doctor is reluctant. Also. What makes you think that nerve pill will make you able to walk? What is exact diagnosis of your underlying disease?
