Sciatica. pain is not much but i get tingling in legs&buttocks when i sit for long.i cant walk for long or fast, legs burn.doc prescibed gabapentin, is it addictive?will sciatica cause permanent damage?cant do any of my fav activities like swim/hike

Gabapentin: is not a controlled substance and does not have withdrawal. Good if it works. sciatica is from a nerve being attacked by something. The nerve can become permanently damaged. It is usually from a disk hitting the nerve.

Yes: it is addicting and a schedule V drug. It may help with neurological pain and numbness. Discuss with your Neurosurgeon the future management plan
