Lack of ovulation: In the setting of pcos, the most likely explanation is a lack of ovulation. This usually occurs midcycle and leads to a predictable withdrawal bleed. When you do not ovulate, you might only have spotting or brownish discharge (which is old blood). Unless you are trying to get pregnant, it is important for the lining to cycle and birth control pills are useful for this purpose!
