Common problem.: Many people get abd muscle cramping while running. A lot of times it has to do with what you had to eat (and how soon you ate) prior to the run. Also, the abd muscles work hard during running - they provide core stability. If you are new to running or haven't run in awhile, it could take a few weeks before your abs feel better. Start low and go slow. Good luck!

Could be a # Things: Most likely dehydration or electrolyte depletion. Could also be from a body wall defect like a hernia, could be vascular insufficiency of the bowel or could be even come from degenerative spine disease. You need to see doctor and find out.
