Further w/u needed.: If the emergency room physician and the testing done did not lead to an emergency situation, that is good. However, severe leg weakness and dizziness fall within the field of neurology. I suggest you first be evaluated by a general internist, who will take a full history, do a brief neurologic exam, and order appropriate tests; or he may want a neurologist to work this up more definitively.

Dizziness& weakness: Both effexor (venlafaxine)(antidepressant)& lamictal(anti seizure) cause dizziness, unsteady gait& weakness. Effexor (venlafaxine) you should take with food. Lying, sitting & standing dizziness is with effexor (venlafaxine).Ntg also lowers bp. Discuss with your doc to change meds. If persists then brain mri, spinaltap, nerve conduction study, adrenal test& see a neurologist. Thanks.
