Cochlear Implant: Cochlear implants can help in certain types of hearing loss. An evaluation of the deaf person would be required to know if it would help. Age is not the determining factor except for risks that come with any type of procedure. Consult a specialist to determine the possibility of success.

Usually: If the person had reasonably good hearing at a younger age and developed good speech they are usually a good candidate for a cochlear implant. Advanced age is not a contraindications for implantation.

Cochlear implant: Absolutely. Our oldest patient was 99. And she did really nicely with that. It is more a function of cognitive ability and medical condition, not chronological age.
