Depends on cause: Many treatment modalities for temporomandibular joint dysfunction, depending upon the cause. Know that malocclusion is a common denominator in joint dysfunction, so make sure you consult with an orthodontist;.

Many treatments: Make sure you have ruled out inner ear problems, menere's disease, and neuro/vascular issues as well... Once a diagnosis has been made, treatments can include any combination of bite splints, orthodontics, bite balancing and restorative dentistry. Make sure you consult with someone who loves to do this type of care...

Don't guess-diagnose: Tmj disorders are very complex and have various etiologies. Some are behavioral, anatomical, functional, caused by trauma, etc... While your headaches, ear pain and dizziness may be TMJ related, without a comprehensive work up and exam, your doctor can't establish a definitive diagnosis and subsequently an appropriate course of treatment. Start with visiting a TMJ specialist first! good luck!

Ear and TMJ related: The back of your jaw joint is the front of the ear canal. Many of the structures that pass into the ear (ligaments, nerves, etc.) pass through the back of the jaw joint. If you have a problem in the joint (dislocation) it will also have some effects on your ear. The best way to diagnose this with an orthotic to tremanage the joint problem and see if the ear symptoms are altered/managed.

Oral Surgeon: Ear pain and dizziness are often seen with TMJ problems. Ear symptoms are not the most prominent symptoms usually. If ear symptoms bother you the most, might be an ear problem. See an ENT doc.

TMJ treatment: Temporo-mandibular disorder is the second most frequent cause of orofacial pain after dental pain. Proper diagnosis is the key to the successful treatment. See an orofacial pain practitioner for a consultation and management. They are the expert in TMJ nonsurgical, conservative effective treatment.
