Pruritis: Itching, or pruritis, is a subliminal form of pain that would normally accompany trauma like a laceration. If the toe becomes red, hot, swollen, tender, or if the inflammation extends upwards get seen by a doctor asap. Otherwise time heals. Sounds normal. Good luck.

Over cleaning maybe: If you have no pain, then it is not infected. Over cleaning can dry the skin out and make it itch. Massage pure vaseline to the site daily and hold back on excessive cleaning.
