2 to 6 weeks.: It all depends on how the hernias are being repaired. If open with mesh, the standard time would be 6 weeks. If done laparoscopically, the 2 weeks might suffice. You need to ask your surgeon.

4-6weeks: They are usually done laparoscopically and given the umbilical hernia repair your surgeon will likely rec'd 4-6weeks of no lifting great than 20lbs to avoid a recurrence. Depending on the type of mesh used your surgeon will likely give you specific instructions on restrictions and duration.
