Wait at east 3 weeks: But each surgeon will vary their recommendations with some suggesting avoiding strenuous activities for up to 3 months. I am sure your surgeon or his/her staff will be more than willing to answer this routine question.

Now: The standard answer is 4 - 6 weeks. Ultimately do what your surgeon recommended.
But the simple truth is, nothing you do with weights will cause your incisions to pop. When it stops hurting you can resume the activities.
If it hurts, don't do it. It's the simplest and most true recommendation.

Call your surgeon : I have my laparoscopic gallbladder patients return to normal activity as tolerated. Each surgeon however has their own recommendations and i would check with yours to be sure.
