Not much: Since these procedures can be accomplished concurrently and laparoscopically, postoperative restrictions should be minimal. You will probably be advised to avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for about two weeks. Some but not all surgeons might recommend a liquid or pureed diet for a couple of weeks after hiatal hernia surgery.

2-4wks weight rest: Both surgeries are usually done laparoscopically and would rec'd a lifting restriction of no lifting of greater than 20lbs for 2 weeks. As far as dietary restrictions, your surgeon should place you on a progressive diet advancing from liquids to soft foods as tolerated. Your body will usually tell you what foods it will accept or cause trouble.
