Why: It is not the recommended medication and will not help you. You need to see a dentist for proper treatment and possibly prescription medication.

Doesn't have the : Desired effect. Your doctor can prescribe valtrex (valacyclovir). Melissa officinalis or lemon balm (cream) has been shown in european studies to help expedite healing of cold sores. It can reduce healing time by half. Studies also show that regular use can help v recurrences. Brief supplementation w lysine 1, 000mg orally 3x a day at the onset, can also hasten healing. Dermatologist can also provide laser tx.

Cold sore Tx: A cold sore is a virus. Neosporin is antibacterial. Yes you can use it. Will it do anything other than prevent secondary bacterial infection? No. Therefore i personally don't see the sense in using it. There are much better medications that your doctor can prescribe, especially if caught and treated early.
