Yes: Foreign body/ puncture wound in gums can be source for infection. Infection in the mouth can quickly become systemic, due to good blood flow there. See whoever you can see fastest! dentist, or oral surgeon, or ear, nose, throat surgeon.

Dentist: Start with your dentist. Most small bone fragments are easy to remove. If it is anything more significant that your dentist cannot take care of, see an oral surgeon at that point. Most truly 'sharp'objects like that tend to be more bony in nature.
