Metabolism of anesth: Anesthetics, both inhalational and intravenous, are metabolized and/or excreted by the liver and kidneys. Other drugs used during anesthesia , such as muscle relaxants to provide optimal operating conditions, may be metabolized by plasma enzymes. Modern anesthetic agents are quickly eliminated from the bloodstream.

Metabolism: General anesthesia vapors leave a person's blood stream mainly via the lungs--the same route by which they enter the circulation. By design, these vapors are chosen to be resistant to metabolism. Iv anesthetics first redistribute to fatty tissue throughout the body and then are metabolized in the kidneys and/or liver and then excreted in the urine or in the bile and leave the body eventually.

General: anesthesia drugs are eliminated in many different ways. The anesthetic gases are eliminated the way they are taken in...through the lungs. The IV medications can be metabolized through a variety of methods, they can be metabolized by the liver, the kidney or through chemical processes in the blood stream.
