With an : Epidural the medication can be given very slowly, but with both you are given intravenous fluids prior and intravenous medications are given to rapidly correct any problems. Low blood pressure is better tolerated when caused by major regional anesthesia because vessels are dilated increasing blood flow, which is what really matters
