Pain: If the pain is constant/ lingers and it is throbbing the best treatment is a root canal followed by a crown to protect the tooth. If the pain is not constant then you may be able to just have a filling. Please see your dentist today to get out of pain so you can enjoy the long weekend.

Need to be seen: Normal decay does not cause (usually) discomfort. It needs to be looked at asap and may require a root canal and a crown. Do not wait until something bothers as it usually will be a lot more expensive..

Telephone: The best thing you can do is call your Dentist for immediate care. The longer you put this off the more the infection in your teeth will spread. Until your Dentist can see you OTC pain Meds (taken exactly as directed on package...don't overdose) may take the edge off. Please call your Dentist now.

See a dentist ASAP: If you have a toothache, you may have an infected cavity with nerve damage. A tooth pain won't go away without treatment and the infection may spread to your jaw, cheeks, sinus and to other areas of your head and neck. You can use NSAID OTC or Tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain control. See a dentist ASAP for assessment and definitive treatment.
